Yes, most types of residency permits are processed within Brazil, through the Polícia Federal. The exception are visas obtained in advance through consulates; however, even with a consulate-issued visa, you must still submit documents in Brazil and undergo biometric data collection. What is the validity period of a residency permit?
Temporary residency permits are issued for 1 year with the right to renew. Investor and business residency permits are issued for 4 years, after which permanent (indefinite) residency can be obtained.
